Information
Join us at 6 p.m., Thursday, May 9, at Luquin’s Mexican Restaurant in Hilo, as we celebrate the 2024 Big Island Press Club Scholarship Foundation winners!
This special event will feature special guest speakers from Honolulu Civil Beat. The 13-year-old local digital platform founded by entrepreneur and philanthropist Pierre Omidyar has emerged as a key news source in the islands. Honolulu Civil Beat Editor Chad Blair and Kevin Dayton, a Big Island based investigative journalist, will speak to the state of the media and our news gathering future.
While dining on some of the Big Island's finest Mexican food, we will get acquainted with award-winning students representing several different schools that are seeking media related professions and have demonstrated a passion for storytelling.
The Big Island Press Club Scholarship committee is handing out 40% more in scholarships this year, thanks to generous donors who participated in our 2023 Torch of Light Award Luncheon auction.
Don’t miss this opportunity to hear from Civil Beat and meet Big Island Press Club Scholarship Foundation’s 2024 Scholarship recipients!
